Second Skin Tattoo Care
We applied a Second Skin to your tattoo. This is a protective barrier designed to keep out dirt and bacteria while allowing your skin to breathe. It also reduces the risk of scabbing and helps the tattoo heal more smoothly.
The Second Skin might fill with blood, plasma, and excess ink. Yes, it will look disgusting, but don't be alarmed, the first piece of Skin can be there for up to 24 hours. If it becomes too uncomfortable or overly full with fluids, you can carefully remove it earlier. Don’t keep it longer than 24 hours.
The second piece of the skin can be there for 6 days if you don't secrete any more plasma, if you do, please change it again after 24 hours. The suppliers advise is not to use more than 3 pieces of skin per tattoo.
To remove the Second Skin:
Locate an edge of the bandage and gently pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth. Avoid pulling upward as it can be painful.
Once the second skin is removed, wash the tattoo gently with soap and water. Pat it dry with a clean towel or let it air dry.
DO NOT APPLY ANY LOTION, GEL OR CREAM.
Make sure the tattoo is completely dry before applying another piece of Skin.
Even though after 14 days of your tattoo, your skin can look completely healed, please know that is not. Continue applying moisturizer and sun protector on your tattoos for 2 to 3 months.
After removing the Second Skin:
Please repeat this steps 2-3 times a day.
Wash your tattoo with cool water and antibacterial unscented soap. Make sure to clean the excess ink, blood, and plasma to avoid creating scabs.
Let your tattoo air dry. If you are in a rush, you can pat it dry but please do not rub.
Apply a very thin layer of Recovery Glide on your tattoo only when it feels dry to keep it hydrated.
